Mr Toad:

A Spoken Word Beatscape.

I recorded myself into AudioShare reading an old song lyric as if it was a poem or spoken word piece. I then ran that through Sector twice before moving all three to Auria and cutting them up and collaging them over a Borderlands Granular file that I made from Diode-108, Caramel, AUFX:Space, and TwistedWave.

Bald Headed Prophet:

Soundscape with vocal.

This track began in Cyclop with a noise patch that I made months ago, I changed the sample which is at the heart of it to Day 93’s ‘Profit Of The Bored’ (so this track already utilises all the apps from that track: iSpeech TTS, AudioShare, Altispace, TwistedWave, Patterning, Dedalus, Poseidon, Auria, and PhaseRings) and recorded a take into AudioShare with Dedalus, AltiSpace, and AUFX:Dub before slowing it a lot in TwistedWave and putting it into Auria.

Next I loaded the vocal from ‘Profit of the Bored’ into Sector and did two takes with different settings, loaded them into Auria, and added some synth hits from Addictive Synth.

Interference:

Soundscape with vocal.

Today I took a file that I made in October using AnalogKit, Muckraker, and AUFX:Dub. Thanks to Stuart Kilbride whose ‘Synthanator ‘ patch I used. I loaded it into Auria, reversed it, duplicated it on a second track, and effected that with Emo Chorus as well as the inbuilt reverb and delay.

Next I recorded Figure into another track and time stretched it within Auria, I did a fairly random and extreme time stretch as I was looking for added artefacts.

Finally I recorded myself speaking some words. I tried using the voice from iSpeech TTS but couldn’t get it right, so did it myself.

Introducing Dr Reverb E.R. & The Nation:

A Soundscape.

I was lucky enough (thank you Stuart) to pick up a promo code for Reverb – Feedback Delay Network from Amazing Noises today, and given that one of my favourite apps Dedalus is from the same company I was keen to jump straight in and give it a go. I was not disappointed.

I immediately loaded a drumbeat that I made last year (I can’t remember what app I used this was before I started keeping a work diary) and played with it, within a half an hour I had four jams that I loved. I took the third of these and used AudioShare to add a little AUFX:Dub here and there.

Then I took the recording I made yesterday in TC11 and loaded that into Reverb FDN for a little reverb loving and a little slowing down. Finally I loaded them both into Auria for arranging and mixing.

The Video:

I downloaded VidBlend last night and used it here, along with Pinnacle Studio, Generate, CinemaFXV and Vjay.

Programmed To..

An Ambient Soundscape. (I think)

Sunrizer, Dedalus, Emo Chorus, FLUX:FX, Konpressor, Auria, TC11, Xenon, AudioShare, Xynthsesizr, Argon, AUFX:Space, AUFX:Dub, ApeDelay.

You know it’s been a hard day when you just get a list of apps.

I’m tired…Goodnight World.

Into The Long Dusk:

I guess it’s a Soundscape; there is some guitar and some bass, but I still think they exist within the Soundscape rather than making it something else. Any thoughts?

Today I began with iPulseret, a great granular app; but as I built up elements around that beginning, the whole thing moved in another direction and I eventually had to remove the initial framework. It’s funny how it sometimes works that way.

I used a guitar file from an abandoned project recorded with ToneStack, then I added two Soundscaper tracks and two CubeSynth tracks, and finally I added a sparse bassline with iFretless. It was a mess.

But when I removed the iPulseret tracks (thanks to some great advice from my amazing wife Lene) the whole thing suddenly swam into focus, and just needed a few tweaks to finish off.

I still love those IPulseret tracks by the way, maybe I’ll start with them again tomorrow and see what happens.

An Abstract Soundscape.

AnalogKit, Caramel, AltiSpace, ElasticDrums, AUFX:Dub, and Auria were all used today. May it please you.

Encroaching Winter:

Abstract Beatscape with bass.

Another play with Alchemy. This app just seems to click with me; I get something interesting going almost immediately. One track is a minimal beatscape, two are almost abstract synths, and one is a bassline. I loaded the jam into Auria and rearranged the ending a little.

The Video:

This was fun. Procreate is my favourite drawing/painting app and one of it’s features is the ability to save a movie of your changes as you create a piece. So today I drew some fairly random stuff, using only black and white, working backwards and forwards in layers. Then I saved it as a video, loaded it into Pinnacle Studio and slowed it WAY down. Then I ran it through CinemaFXV for texture, Generate for extra movement, back to Pinnacle for titles, and back to CinemaFXV for more texture.

Haunted:

A Soundscape.

I began today by playing PhaseRings which I loaded into Auria, then added 3 drones from FM4. I wanted a percussive part so I loaded up Sunrizer, effected it with Flying Haggis and Emo Chorus, and cut out a bit. Next I took a recording from the other day done in Grain Science and cut out some interesting parts. Then I loaded up Thor and jammed a bit; Thor didn’t play nice with Auria (crackling and audio cut outs) so I loaded it into AudioShare and did some improvising, ran it through ApeDelay and Dedalus, slowed it down in TwistedWave, then trimmed out 4 hits. Finally I added a touch of MitoSynth.

Lots of collaging today, which you may have noticed I love doing 🙂

A big thank you to Jacob Haq from The Sound Test Room whose free patches for FM4, Sunrizer, and Thor were used today:

And also to Gareth J Farmer whose blip and bleep file was the basis of the Grain Science parts.

The Video:

I filmed while walking around Drammen a few months back with an 8mm app. I loaded some of those clips into Pinnacle Studio, I thought they had a similar atmosphere to the music.

Many More Flowers:

It started as a Beatscape,.. I added a Soundscape,.. it’s got some spoken words… and a bassline. So I don’t know quite what it is.

A Beatscape made in Patterning and effected with Dedalus and FLUX:FX till it was distorted and stuttering. Then a Soundscape made from a file imported into Dedalus and effected with FLUX:FX using the same settings. Both imported into Auria. Then a bassline added from iSem, and some words recorded using the inbuilt iPad mic into AudioShare with AUFX:PeakQ, AltiSpace, and AUFX:Dub. Then I did a little arranging and a little chiselling away until it arrived at this state.

The Video:

Assorted flower pictures were imported into Pinnacle Studio, arranged, and then effected with CinemaFXV.

Peace out.
