My Clouded/Crowded Mind:
This Playlist is five tracks/one track, intended to be listened to in the above sequence. It/they are a combination of Ambient and Abstract Soundscapes which hopefully make for whole listening experience.
This has been building for a while; elements of these tracks where made today, yesterday, and last week.
The apps involved were: iDensity, Grain Science, Borderlands Granular, TC11, AUFX:Dub, AUFX:Space, SilQ, Auria, AudioShare, TwistedWave, and (in a first for this blog, a non iPad app) Absynth 5. I did two jams on my MacBook and used Dropbox to transfer them to the iPad for inclusion in these sessions.

Trial And Error:
I honestly don’t know what to call this; I’m trying to reapproach the guitar and fit it into my current music making. Still a little rusty on the strings.
I used BiasFX for the guitar sounds, recorded into Auria.
I began by programming the drums in Patterning then added an arpeggio jam with Addictive Synth. Once that was in place I jammed three tracks of guitar. Finally I removed parts of the beat, just to let the track breathe a little more.
It’s only about 80% there; mainly because my playing isn’t quite up to it, but also because I haven’t fully realised the concept yet. But I guess that’s ok, baby steps.

(L)ove:
An Ambient Dronescape.
I made the dronescape using 4 tracks of Addictive Synthinto Auria, hitting the dice for random sounds and jamming with the ones I liked. Then I sang accapella into AudioShare (just whatever came into my head, which was about my love for my wife). I treated this file with Turnado and cut out my favourite bit which I blended into the drones to complete the composition.

For My Best Friend:
A guitar jam recorded into Auria using ToneStack, plus a drone from Addictive Synth.
Sometimes simple is best 🙂

Heaven’s Smile:
A sparse Beatscape with drone and sung vocal (sorry about that).
A little silly perhaps, but I tried to sing one of my poem/lyrics. I began by using VoiceJamStudio and trying to build up something but I could not make it work (perhaps i am misunderstanding the app) anyway, I gave up and moved to Auria where I sang the main line and then tried to harmonise.
I then added a drone from Poseidon, a beat from Patterning, another beat from DM1, and a small segment of an earlier beat that I made with Cyclop, AUFX:Space, AUFX:Dub, Dedalus, and AudioShare.

Furtive:
Ambient Soundscape with Spoken Word.
I jammed with iM1 into Auria, using a patch of my own making, then jammed against it with one of my own patches in Poseidon. Then I added a drum part which I had constructed using iMPC Pro and TwistedWave which I cut up so it only appears occasionally. Next I jammed an electric piano using Lyra (the midi sampler in Auria), I doubled this part using a different electric piano sound and treated them with slightly different reverb and delay settings using Auria’s inbuilt effects. Finally I added the vocals which I had already recorded using AudioShare and AltiSpace.

Today Is A Good Day (To Die):
An Abstract Soundscape.
Grain Science–TwistedWave–Auria+iM1 is today’s formula 🙂

Inverting The Phase (On The EM Band):
An Ambient Soundscape.
I decided to play with iM1 today. An app that I enjoyed on it’s release but haven’t returned to for a while, perhaps because of it’s complexity. I used two presets and one patch that I had already made; jamming them into Auria. I jammed my own patch twice, once low and once high.

Toad (Revisited):
Spoken Word Beatscape.
This is a resetting of a lyric that I used on Day 101’s ‘Mr Toad’. I took the same recording (of me reading into AudioShare with AltiSpace), loaded it into Auria and added two drones from Poseidon and a Borderlands Granular recording which I made using a file made with Patterning.

Innate:
A Vocalscape, a Soundscape.
Today was one of those days where I spent ages making something that eventually got all but removed from the track.
I made a vocal recording with AudioShare and AltiSpace, loaded it into Borderlands Granular, slowed the resulting file in TwistedWave, effected it with Emo Chorus, and separately with FLUX:FX, mixed them all in Auria, then loaded the result into TwistedWave and slowed and lowered it.
The resulting file became the backbone for this track only to be cut up and mostly erased from the final product.
I now made a ‘vocal’ track with iSpeech TTS, AudioShare, AltiSpace, and TwistedWave. Then ran it through Sector and Borderlands Granular. Loaded them all into Auria for cutting up and arranging.
Next I added a lead line from Poseidon, another from Grain Science, and an organ from Lyra.
Now is when I realised that the initial sound was holding things back so I removed most of it.
And finally I loaded both basic vocal tracks as a coda.
