Well Adjusted Head:
Continuing my Gadget obsession today with another little downtempo piece of electronica. Today I also used AudioShare, ApeFilter, Dedalus, AUFX:Dub, and Auria.

The City Blooms Recalcitrant:
I seem to be alternating lately between beat based tracks and soudscape tracks; that wasn’t intentional, just something I noticed. So it must be Soundscape time!
This track in fact veers towards the Noisescape. I made it with Addictive Synth, just jamming with a sound I found using the randomise function. I put it into Auria for a little mixing goodness but otherwise its a straight jam with that one patch.

Laxative Is The Key:
There’s a beat and a bassline and some vocals, does that make it a song? Not the way I do it.
iElectribe for the drums, iFretless Bass for (you guessed it) the bass. The vocals is on two tracks, one effected by VoxSyn and the other by Harmony Voice. Assembled in Auria.

Plain Sailing:
An Ambient Soundscape.
I made this using another of my standard modus operandi; play with a synth app making several patches and jams then combine them. Today I used Magellan and this soundscape is the result of combining three of the jams together in Auria.

Fluid Victoria Extract:
Another Downtempo Electronica piece courtesy of Gadget. This app is really fun to use and full of so many possibilities.
I made this on the plane between Oslo and Bangkok.
Made in Gadget, ran it through Dedalus, back to Gadget and exported a sparser version, ran that through Dedalus, arranged the two together in Auria. This is becoming a standard workflow for me for this sort of track but so far I’m happy with the results.

Fear not Trackers the track-a-day will continue but I don’t know how often I’ll have internet access, so for the next three weeks postings may be intermittent.
Enjoy yourselves as I take advantage of Norwegian holiday times and spend three weeks in Australia!

ASX:
Today I am indulging in a side of my music making that hasn’t got much of a look in on this blog recently. I am interested in exploring the boundaries and limits of what music is. Specifically I have been thinking about silence and about noise, about silence and sound, about noise and non-noise, about the place where all these things meet, and what they might say to each over a coffee or a beer.
I use Addictive Synth to make the noise, Auria to structure it, and Caramel and Dedalus for extra texture.
Peace Out Tracklings.

QB2B:
Still playing with the downtempo electronica beat thing. Gadget again featuring here with a little help from Addictive Synth, which made the explosions, and of course from Dedalus and Auria with out whose help I would be at a loss.

End Credits:
I’m calling this Downtempo Electronica though at 110 bpm I’m not sure if it qualifies, but then I have no idea exactly what qualifies as Downtempo so I’ll just go with my own categories I guess.
I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again, Alchemy is one fun and easy to use app. Every time I touch it I get something that I like. Unfortunately it is no longer available on iOS if you’re starting out but you can get it for desktop I believe.
Anyway Alchemy, AudioShare, Dedalus, and Auria is all I used today.
Enjoy.

Bombast:
More Downtempo Electronica this time courtesy of iKaossilator. Like Figure which I use yesterday it’s a fun little easy to use app that is really geared towards EDM style things. Another such app that I have used occasionally is Auxy. They each take a different approach, they all have their limitations but that adds to their charm I think. With all of them I usually attempt to subvert their EDMish paradigm, typically by using slower tempos, effecting them, or cutting and arranging them in Auria, perhaps placing them in an unusual space.
Today was a fairly straight forward take on the idea. I began by making a song in iKaossillator at 90 bpm and then jamming it into AudioShare (by muting and unmuting the 5 parts) with DubFilter and Dedalus in the effects chain. Then I loaded it into Dedalus and recorded it at 0.80 sample rate therefore lowering slightly and giving a final bpm of 72, not super slow by my standards but certainly providing a laid back sort of groove which I prefer.
Thanks for listening trackers and may all your days find you in a funky laid back groove 🙂
