Tacoma:
Somehow things sound a little different whenever I use a physical or hardware instrument along side the iPad.
Today I was MicroBrute-ing. There are three tracks from the MicroBrute in fact; recorded into Auria with BiasFX. Plus one from iSem, plus the jackhammer type sounds which are from iSpark.

The Silver Lining:
Everything was done inside Auria today. Beginning with Patterning, then two layers of Poseidon, then two layers of Bass both playing Michelle into BiasFX.
The Video:
Stills made in iColorama, arranged in Pinnacle Studio then run through Generate, both versions layered using Vjay before being run through CinemaFX.

Of Ships And Their Passing:
More of my Bass today, though she takes a back seat in this one.
Patterning for the drum duties, helped by: Caramel, AUFX:Peak, DubFilter, AUFX:Dub, FLUX:FX, and AudioShare. Addictive Synth for the other sounds. All assembled in Auria. The final mix was slowed by 90% in TwistedWave because…reasons.

Visiting Circe:
A soundscape.
I used Grain Science and Borderlands Granular for this, assembled in Auria.

Too Little Too Soon:
I came armed with my bass today, it’s been way too long since last we met and I really must spend more time with her.
I jammed into Auria using BiasFX and a simple beat from Patterning which I also slowed by 50% in TwistedWave, then I added a little Addictive Synth for good measure.
It makes me happy 🙂

Taking It Easy (A History In Four Parts):
An Ambient Beatscape.
Today I used primarily Alchemy.
I made a project and jammed it into AudioShare three times liking the third one best. I loaded that into Sector and ran it through three different projects, recording each into AudioShare.
Now I had a vision of how I wanted the track to be so I trimmed a drum free segment out of the first file and I looped it, again in AudioShare, with ApeDelay and Dedalus.
Finally I had assembled all the parts I needed. So, it was into Auria with them all for some cutting and pasting and deleting and arranging.

It’s Moments Like These:
It’s a Beatscape ie a soundscape centred on the drum elements.
iMaschine 2, Sector, AudioShare, Dedalus, Auria, Patterning, Phase84, Shoom, TwistedWave.
That is all.

Elspeth Listens Intently:
A Beatscape.
Made entirely with sounds from iMaschine 1 on my iphone. Effected in parts with Dedalus, DubFilter, Emo Chorus, and Sector. Arranged etc in Auria.

Scat Me Scale Me ‘Scuse Me:
Some acappella singing using VoiceRackFX into Auria with a beat from iSpark. I had some trouble with VoiceRack (probably me) so just added inbuilt Auria reverb and delay to the bare vocal, then ran the result through Sector.
So far so ‘fun but just okay’.
What do I do when things aren’t working? You guessed it. Slow it down! I ran it through TwistedWave for some slowing down and some lowering, Then put it back into Auria for some cutting and arranging.
I think it’s fun.

Breaking My Shackles (With A Whisper):
An Ambient piece today. A simple almost minimal meditation on melancholy.
Two jams with Shoom combined in Auria along with two jams in Alchemy.
I’ve always enjoyed minimalism, in art as well as in music. The baroque annoys me with it’s obsessive busyness. My most profound experience of Art was standing in a room of Rothko’s; and Eno’s work has always attracted me, as have many of the ideas centred around Zen and the Japanese Tea Ceremony.
There are many ways to express and experience minimalism, and I have been thinking about and experimenting with the concept lately. Whether it be in shorter simpler pieces, or the more frequent use of silence, or the use of fewer elements.
